The University Institute for Psychiatry & Law

The University Institute for Psychiatry & Law, created in 1997, provides comprehensive forensic services throughout the United States. The Institute is comprised of four all-inclusive centers; The Center for Criminal/Civil Forensics, The Center for Threat Assessment, The Center for Juvenile and Family Forensics, and The Center for Brain Injury Assessment.

Each center has a panel of consultants that are available to perform various work for attorneys (both plaintiffs' and defendants'), corporations and hospitals, including expert witness testimony, mediation and arbitration, independent mental health examinations and consultations in mental health law and forensic psychiatry. These consultants currently consist of psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, neuroendocrinologists, managed care administrators, clinical toxicologists and an experienced Corporate Security Manager.. They are engaged in clinical practice, teaching and research, business consulting, as well as the services listed above.

The Institute bills for services at an hourly rate and is able to negotiate discounts for courts, public agencies, charitable organizations and indigent clients. Consultants also do pro bono work on cases of interest or importance.
