Family Medicine / Psychiatry Residency

The University of Cincinnati offers a combined residency in Family Medicine and Psychiatry. This five-year double-board program was created in 1995 to address the need for dually trained physicians, qualifying its graduates for board certification in both specialties. The Family Medicine & Psychiatry (FMP) Program appeals to those who are committed to integrating the care of physical and mental illness.

Graduates of our FMP Program are especially well qualified to provide psychiatric services in primary care settings, primary care services in psychiatric settings, and comprehensive care in specialty settings, such as inpatient medical psychiatry units, pain treatment programs, eating disorders programs, sleep medicine, substance abuse programs, etc.

Our program accepts 1-2 residents per year and has graduated 11 residents since 2001.
