Lynn Bethart's mother, Paula, very kindly wrote the reunioncommittee with the following information:

Lynn died of cervical cancer on December 23, 1989. She lived in Dallas with her husband John Todd, and came home approximately twice a year. She wrote some poetry that I have compiled in booklet form, and our friends and loved ones have enjoyed these "odes" immensely.

We've included two of Lynn's odes from the booklet. Lynn's mother lives at 11259 Hanover Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45240, (513)825-5567.

Ode To Something

I bought some "lifesavers" - all lime,
For that little pack, I paid a dime.
Remembering when they cost a nickel.
Now I could only buy a slice of pickle.

Walking down the street, passing store after store,
it finally became a terrible bore.
So I went to the park, which was down the street,
when I came to a bench and had a seat.

I sat and watched all the people go by.
They were in such a pattern, and I wondered why?
Listening to a lonely bird peep
After awhile, I fell asleep.

Ode To A Sunset

Walking toward the sun, fiery red,
that lies on the horizon, straight ahead.
As if being lead down the road,
never returning, carrying my load.

Feeling my eyes burning
but the earth keeps on turning.
Slowly, the sun is sinking down,
leaving peaceful darkness all around.

After the sun has ceased sinking,
bright white stars come out blinking.
I watched the moon send shimmering light on the bay.
Finally arriving, the end of another day.

Carl played professional football and is currently a sales rep for a local trucking company. We have two (not so) little ones - Maxx is 4 1/2 and Carly is 2, and the usual dog, cat and fish. I married Rebecca Roy (from Glendale) in 1978 and I am proud to say that we are still very much in love and happier than ever. After graduation I worked in the electrical/construction field until 1989. In 1980 Becki and I built our own house in Springfield Township. A unique octagonal home with three levels. In 1989 we Started our own electrical contracting business, BNW Electric Company, which we operated until 1992. In 1992 I created a computer consulting business named Hedroom Applications, Inc. As a computer consultant I do application development and systems analyst for several departments at The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine and numerous other firms here in town and in Chicago. Becki and I have no children, but we do have a cool cat that has been with us since we've been married.

Kathy and Brett met and began dating as Juniors at Forest Park High School. They married in September 1978. Kathy's family moved to Forest Park from Elgin, Illinois in 1971. Kathy's father, Roy, and mother, Andy, still reside in the same house at 642 Brunner Drive. Kathy received her Associates's degree in Computer Programming from UC. For 12 years, she worked as the office manager for a major chemical distributor. Kathy is now the Customer Service Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, and Warehouse Manager for Chemtrusion, a specialty plastics compounder in Houston. Kathy and Brett have a wonderful five year old son, Keith, and a Shetland Sheepdog, named Ruff. Immediately after graduation, I traveled to Europe with my good friend Lisa Stemberger. Upon my return, I entered the medical field working as a lab technician at Jewish Hospital. In 1977, I joined my sister Pam in the entertainment business. Together, we toured the United States signing in a show band which resulted in meeting my husband, Eddie, which then resulted in two great kids, Ryan - 13 and Alison - 11. I am now employed at the Silky Way as a floral/interior designer. My husband is the plant manager at McSwain Manufacturing Corp. Brett attended UC, College of Engineering, and received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1979. Upon graduation, he accepted a full time position with NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas as a design engineer. Well, you may remember that I was the only pregnant graduate of '74 (or the only one who was noticeably pregnant anyway!). I married Randy Erb in April before graduation and my son Jeremy was born that July. Randy and I divorced 13 years later. He still lives in Lexington and we see him regularly. I remarried New Years Eve '89 - his name is Michael and he works for the city government and has an 11 year old daughter Stefi. We bought an old colonial house in '89 and have gradually been remodeling. I've been a nurse for 5 years but I took this summer off. I'm into quilting and gardening. Aloha! First, the boring stuff: I received my Bachelor of Music Ed from Miami of Ohio in 1979, my Masters in Library Science from Kent State U in 1982, and have managed to find orchestras to play in almost everywhere I've lived, including Hamilton, Dayton, the Aspen Music Festival (Colorado), Washington DC, and a woodwind quintet in Seattle Washington. Jobs have run from office worker at the Winton Woods Riding Center (and also occasional stablehand and trail ride leader), Kelly Girl, part time musician and music teacher, through Head of the Library at Mead Data Central (Dayton) doing research and competitive analysis, Head of the Reference Dept. at the Bureau of the Census Library in Washington DC, to my current position of Navy wife (a very big job) and bookseller at Border's Books and Music in Waikele, Hawaii, where they are currently cross-training me in preparation for the Christmas Season on the espresso machine!! (Yes, I now know how to make a double half-caf iced mochaccino with a shot of orange & topped with whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon!) I've been married to Lieutenant Commander Tony Sims (Navy-Submarines) since 1990, and we have a wonderful little 3 year old boy named Steve. As usual for a military family we have moved a lot: 5 years in Washington DC (where we met), 6 months in Connecticut, 3 years near Seattle Washington, and now we're stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. (Yeah, I know, tough duty...) We may be moving again next spring -- my husband is slated to be Executive Officer (second in command) of a submarine and we will go wherever the boat is stationed. My parents still live in the "C" Section and I keep in touch with Lynne (Burnett) and Nick Cherolis, so I do occasionally hear news of some of you. Wish I could be there in body as well as spirit --
