The mission of the Behavioral Core at the University of Cincinnati's Genome Research Institute is to provide researchers with the ability to obtain behavioral information from rats and mice. The Core employs a wide range of tests related to behaviors that involve learning and memory, anxiety and stress, depression, metabolism, activity, and ingestion. We can also arrange to provide for other behavioral tests upon request as well as some surgical techniques. The Core will provide researchers with help in the design, execution, analysis, presentation, and interpretation of data resulting from use of the Core's facilities. The range of behaviors we are able to test in a relatively short amount of time is cost-effective and time-efficient, as any single piece of equipment in use by the Core would be a significant monetary investment and likely only allow for a single behavioral measure. We are eager to provide researchers with data from behaving animals. This website is designed to provide researchers and others interested in behavioral phenotyping an opportunity to see some of the common equipment used in behavioral research, understand how it is used, and to contact the Core for more information about our services.
